Simple Crockpot Chuck Roast

This is my standard way of cooking roasts. If you've had our samples at market this is how I cooked it. In the crockpot on low for 8 hours with salt, pepper, and beef broth.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 lb Ledingham Livestock chuck roast (or any preferred roast)

  • 1-2 cups beef broth

  • Salt, to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the roast

    • Thaw the roast completely if frozen. Pat it dry with paper towels.

    • Season generously on all sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. Cook in the crockpot

    • Place the roast in the slow cooker.

    • Pour 1-2 cups of beef broth around the roast.

    • Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours, or until the roast is fork-tender.

  3. Serve and customize

    • Shred the tender roast with a fork and serve with your favorite flavors:

      • BBQ Sauce – for sandwiches or sliders.

      • Tacos – season with cumin, chili powder, and a squeeze of lime.

      • Classic Pot Roast – pair with roasted vegetables and gravy.

Notes:

  • This simple, versatile roast works great for meal prepping.

  • Use leftovers for sandwiches, quesadillas, stews, or rice bowls.
